Shield of Defense
Roman soldiers devised an impenetrable shield by which they would protect themselves while advancing against the enemy.
They formed themselves into a rectangle, three in front and three in the back, with two on each side, with shields in front and on top, thus
creating and impenetrable shield.
Solid Foundations - God's Absolutes
God has given us shields of faith. A shield is always God's eternal, unchanging truth. It defeats the enemy.
There are four major sides to the attack on the believer's mind, heart, emotions and faith.
Whenever we give in and begin to doubt these truths Satan has penetrated our armor and won the skirmish.
These truths are always true, for everyone, everywhere, all the time. Use them to defeat the fiery darts of the wicked one.
God
1. God loves you & has a plan for your life. Jer. 29:11, Rom 8:35-39
2. God cares about you. Matthew 6:26
3. God answers prayer. Matthew 18:18-20
4. God forgives you all your iniquities. Psalm 103:3
5. God works everything out for your good and his glory. Romans 8:28
6. God will supply all your needs. Philippians 4:19
7. God is able to make all grace abound to you. 2 Corinthians 9:8
8. God is able to do immeasurably more… Eph. 3:20
You
1. You are a victor, not a victim. Romans 8:37
2. You are an heir of God, joint heir with Christ. Romans 8:17
3. You are kept by the power of God. 2 Timothy 1:12, Jude 1:24
4. You are forgiven. I John 1:9, Psalm 103:12
5. You are saved and safe in Jesus. John 10:28-29
6. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. Philip. 4:13
7. You are protected by God. 1 John 5:18
8. You are blessed. Psalm 34:8
Word
1. God is not a man that he should lie. Numbers 23:19

Life
1. Real faith gets tested. The rain falls on just and unjust. Matthew 5:45
2. Bad things will happen to good people. Job 1, 2
3. Trials come. In the world you will have tribulation. John 16:33
4. Things go wrong. Man is born to trouble. Job 5:7
5. Sickness happens. Psalm 103:3
6. Accidents happen. Luke 13:4
7. Death happens. Good people die. Hebrews 9:27
8. People fail. Psalm 27:10
Jesus never fails. God's ways are not always my ways.
God's thoughts are not always my thoughts.
God is always good. God is always loving and kind.
God's truth is my shield and buckler.
It protects me from the lies of Satan and from the insecurities of my own heart.
So, I wrap myself in the promises of God.
